If your struggling communities include Teeswater in South Bruce it would be wise for you to cover the public meeting tomorrow regarding the town’s only grocery story. The store, one of the few co-ops in Ontario is struggling to make ends meet and tomorrow night will be a make or break meeting for it. If you look at the number of closed stores in town it really is a picture of rural small town demise.
In case you are still interested in updates, in less than a year a number of muncipalities io Bruce County have have moved up to stage 3 of the NWMO’s site selection process. As this has occurred ongoing oppostion has built up to a regional colaition. There are still just 2 councilors who have spoken against this project and there is now a desperate move that will likely see a gag order moved by their mayors that will restrict their media access.
This in spite of the NWMO’s insistance that there will be oopen and balanced public debate on there proposal.
